The prospect of living in Zimbabwe is something of a gamble at the current time, so you might envision that there would be little desire for going to Zimbabwe's casinos. In reality, it seems to be functioning the opposite way around, with the atrocious economic circumstances creating a higher ambition to gamble, to try and find a quick win, a way out of the crisis.

For almost all of the people living on the tiny local money, there are two dominant styles of gambling, the state lotto and Zimbet. As with almost everywhere else on the globe, there is a national lotto where the odds of succeeding are remarkably small, but then the winnings are also remarkably big. It's been said by market analysts who study the idea that the majority do not purchase a ticket with a real expectation of profiting. Zimbet is centered on one of the local or the British football divisions and involves predicting the results of future games.

Zimbabwe's gambling halls, on the other foot, look after the exceedingly rich of the state and travelers. Up until a short time ago, there was a considerably substantial tourist industry, centered on safaris and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated violence have carved into this market.

Amongst Zimbabwe's gambling dens, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has five gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree gambling den, which has only slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only slot machines. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer table games, one armed bandits and electronic poker machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, the two of which offer video poker machines and tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe's casinos and the above mentioned lottery and Zimbet (which is quite like a parimutuel betting system), there are also 2 horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd metropolis) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Seeing as that the market has deflated by more than 40 percent in recent years and with the associated deprivation and conflict that has come about, it isn't known how well the vacationing business which is the backbone of Zimbabwe's gambling dens will do in the next few years. How many of them will carry on till things get better is basically unknown.
